Words from the Principal

Since its establishment in 2015, Little Newton Anglo-Chinese Kindergarten and International Preschool has been dedicated to creating a rich language environment and promoting exploratory learning and arts education.
A rich language environment is a gateway for young children to connect with the wider world. Our team of English and Putonghua teachers has worked tirelessly since 2015, introducing the international children’s music course Kindermusik© and providing high-quality English musical materials. This allows children to develop English skills while expressing themselves in a relaxed and joyful atmosphere. In 2020, the school designed bilingual books, including Little Newton Phonics+. Children have consistently excelled in public assessments, laying a solid foundation for bilingual learning.

Exploratory learning is an essential approach to encouraging children of different abilities to learn. Our school has long promoted multiculturalism; in 2020, it received funding from the Quality Education Fund (QEF) to develop the “Nature and Life” curriculum. This fosters an environment where “learning has no fixed answers,” encouraging children from non-Chinese language backgrounds to bravely try new things and express their individuality.

The core purpose of our music and arts program is to “plant the seeds of music in children’s hearts.” Daily music exposure cultivates character, calms active children, encourages introverted children to explore outward, promotes active listening, and makes music a lifelong companion. We are grateful to Dr. Li for participating in our music education training since 2023. This training has helped teachers realize that music education is not solely about exams but also about cultivating rhythm, pitch, and cooperation among children.

Under the guidance of Supervisor Miss Janis, we firmly believe that academic achievement is not the only measure of ability. The essence of education is to ignite children’s confidence. Kindergarten should help children shine, and fostering confident learners is the responsibility of every educator. Over the past forty years, graduates mentored by Miss Janis have shined in various fields, affirming our original educational mission.

As educators, we do not expect young children at this stage to achieve advanced academic results for progressing to primary school. On this 10th anniversary, we sincerely hope that when children return to school in the future, they embody our school motto: “Little Newton Cultivates Talents, Ten Years of Hard Work Blooming Like Flowers, Teachers and Students Reuniting to Share Memories, Filled with Laughter and Love,” reflecting its profound meaning.

Looking back to 2015, I first took on the role of principal, full of ideals but aware of my limited experience. Fortunately, with the selfless guidance of predecessors, I learned humbly through trial and error. Every step has been built on the trust of our team and community. This inclusiveness has become the fertile soil for our growth.

In 2020, we launched a new chapter, establishing the “International Kindergarten” and the “Little Newton Education Group,” offering various diversified classes. Faced with the unknown, our team boldly experimented with professionalism and passion, successfully implementing distinctive courses. This courage proves the potential of educational innovation.

Now, in 2025, I embrace a third role—motherhood. Experiencing the developmental needs of infants aged 0-2 has strengthened our “child-centered” philosophy. Once again, we founded the “International Nursery,” continuously refining our curriculum and services. Every step has been taken with our team walking alongside me. Thank you all for embarking on this educational journey together—transforming ideas into action, and dreams into reality.

Little Newton’s ten years have been a journey of “daring to try, daring to innovate, and daring to persist.” Thanks to the dedication of every colleague, parental support, and children’s smiles, we have created the warmth and conviction that define Little Newton Kindergarten today. Let us look forward to the next ten years!
